4th-8th grade mentees, and adult volunteers and high school student volunteer mentors

Target Population

4th-8th grade mentees; adult volunteer mentors and high school student volunteer mentors in grades 9-12

Project Partners

Funded by the Federal Department of Education. The school district partners include Cheney, Deer Park, Inchelium, Kettle Falls, Loon Lake, Newport, Northport, Republic, Selkirk, Valley, Columbia and Curlew

Start and End Date

September 2004 - August 2007 Goal is to sustain the project in each individual school districts.

Grants Previously Received

Spokane Mentoring children of Promise, funded by the Department of Corrections; Readiness to Learn, funded by the Washington state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI); Reducing Youth Gun Violence, funded by OJJDP; Safe Schools/Healthy Students, funded by the Department of Education; McKinney-Vento Homeless Children Project, funded by OSPI.    

What are Your Greatest Needs

1. Volunteer Mentors...especially male mentors

2.Idetifying the children and getting their caregivers permission for these children to receive a mentor.
